Carswell commends Newton on the work his Home Defense Unit is doing, advises that he is writing Col. Banister with reference to his unit and presumes that Newton sent a copy of the report to the Adjutant General.

A letter written to T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from F. F. Andrews, Post Commander, Havens-Cannon Post 24, West Grade School, Principal, Anadarko, Oklahoma, dated February 15, 1941. Andrews advises of his interest in the Abilene Ministerial Alliance due to two companies out of Anadarko being in the Abilene area. He advises of the enclosed rosters for the two companies explaining that the town and the men's officers are interested in the welfare of the men. Andrews advises of several Indians belonging to the company and suggests, for unusual entertainment, that they be asked to perform some dances in their costumes. He gives assurance they are not looking for special attention for these men acknowledging their understanding that there are 19,000 men that need the attention of the Abilene community. The attached rosters are of Company "F" 120th Quartermaster Regiment and of Battery "B" 158th F.A.; a penciled "a" is by the names of men who are from Anadarko . The reverse side of the roster includes handwritten names and notations. An attached roster provides a listing of names of officers from Anadarko and a postscript by Andrews stating, "These men are worthy of any trust that you may ask …

A letter written to Major T. N. Carswell, 10th Battalion, T.D.G., Abilene, Texas, from Neill H. Banister, Lieut. Col., Infantry, Asst. to the Adjutant General, Adjutant General's Department, Austin, dated February 14, 1941. Banister advises Carswell of the appreciation of the entire Department for his letter commending Mr. L. E. Newton of Rotan, Texas and confirms that the Rotan unit will stand well on the list of available units.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from David W. Ratliff, David W. Ratliff, The Senate of The State of Texas, Austin, dated February 4, 1957. Ratliff expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell that reading the letter gives him a feeling of great pride in having him as a constituent. He wishes more people had the same devotion for the cause of free enterprise and local self-government and advises of his agreement with every principle expressed by Carswell.

Latimer expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell regarding the Pool bill and Senate Bill 154 and for the confidence and support Carswell has given to him during the years he has been a member of the Legislature.

Carswell discusses the Pool bill suggesting an option if it does not go through, and voices his concerns on Senate Bill 154 from his perspective of having years of experience as a Voluntary Parole Officer.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Wm. A. Blakley, United States Senate, dated February 27, 1961. Blakley expresses his appreciation for Carswell's confidence and support in his campaign. Blakley touches on the status of the campaign and extends his hope that Carswell can speak in his behalf.

Blakley expresses his appreciation for Carswell's support in his first Senate campaign and requests his continued support in his new campaign. He asks for Carswell's views on the issues and on the message he should get to the people of Texas.

A letter addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from J. J. Mariner, Vice President, Thos. Cook & Son, 587 Fifth Avenue, New York 17, N. Y., dated February 13, 1946. Mariner expresses appreciation for the interest shown but will not arrange a representation until Carswell has an office and can qualify as a representative of steamship and air lines.

A letter written to Mr. R. H. Johnson, New York 5, N. Y., from T. N. Carswell, dated February 16, 1946. Carswell informs Johnson that in addition to Income Tax service planning he plans to develop a Travel and Touring Service advising that he gave, as a reference, Johnson's name to Thos. Cook and Sons asking him to forgive his not having previously secured Johnson's permission. He advises that the City Commission seems to be rushing toward a substantial bond issue with opposition developing regarding the procedure.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Citizens National Bank Building, Abilene, Texas, from The Good Citizenship League of Stephens County, Texas, dated February 6, 1946. A request that Carswell compile his resolutions concerning The Good Citizenship Leaque and mail them to Rev. L. V. Reazin, secretary for the organization.

A letter addressed to Thos. Cook & Sons, New York City, N. Y., from T. N. Carswell, dated February 16, 1946. Carswell makes the request, again, to represent Thos. Cook & Sons in the area advising that he is reasonably sure of the basic opportunities for business in this section.

Acknowledgement to Carswell of the receipt of his letter of January 16th during Mr. Johnson's absence. An assurance is given by Haynes that the address Carswell has for Thos. A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Rupert, R. H. Johnson & Co. Investment Securities, New York 5, N. Y., dated February 25, 1946. Johnson assures Carswell that he considers it a pleasure to give a reference if Thos. Cooke & Sons should contact him. He advises of "quite a sell-off" in securities recently describing his account as mainly uninvested but that a reaction might be overdue.

A letter written to Rupert [R. H. Johnson], from T. N. Carswell, dated February 28, 1948. Carswell "appreciates" Johnson's optimistic outlook but notes Russia seems bent on bringing things to a head and debates the owning of stock versus money in the bank.

Johnson expresses his appreciation for the confidence reposed in him assuring Carswell that things will begin to happen in the Electric Power & Light and the Puget Sound "situation".

Hill requests that Carswell hold the letter for instructions to be utilizied later and suggests he obtain Cashier's Checks. Hill identifies "his man" in Albuquerque as Elmer C. Sproul, describes Sproul's background and gives his approval of Sproul. The reverse side includes a handwritten postscript by Hill informing Carswell that he learned that the tubing which Dalton wrote about is of smaller diameter than the pipe presently used by the firm thus it would not fit the units they are making.

A letter written to Mr. Carswell, from R. D. Hill, Casa Grande Lodge, Albuquerque, New Mexico, dated February 25, 1950. Hill outlines his business travel itinerary advising that he is on to El Paso to learn whether a coffee roaster there might 'custom' roast coffee for the distributor who is to operate in that territory.

Carswell gives his opinion of what Landrum wrote in his column advising that the solution to the increase in crime is not in an enlarged police force but that they must find out the cause of the increase in crime, that until the cause is known their "attempts at a solution are at most but well intentioned 'shots in the dark'".

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Lynn W. Landrum, The Dallas Morning News, dated February 23, 1954. Landrum conceeds that it is true there are underlying causes for criminality in Dallas suggesting one cause is "our modern church has lost its appeal" but defends his column citing that Dallas is understaffed in its police and sheriff forces.
