A letter written to Dr. R. G. Lee, President, Southern Baptist Convention, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, from T. N. Carswell dated May 18, 1949. Carswell criticizes the Buchanan report; "My concordance and I are unable to find in the New Testament any authority for the setting up of a Baptist oligarchy"; he advises that the report "be permanently stored in a polar cache" which is comparable to the atmosphere "in Southern Baptistdom" that would be created if the proposal was adopted.

A Selective Service System application and personal history statement for Thomas Norwood Carswell dated April 18, 1941. D. S. S. Form 25, 16, 18081, U. S. GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE. The statement records this information: "Many years ago the family name was spelled Caswell." The parents of T. N. Carswell are listed as Carswell, Andrew Jackson (Father) and Smith, Martha (Mother).

A letter addressed to The Chairman, Mitchell County Local Board No. 1, Colorado City, Texas from L. M. Fellbaum, Major, Q. M. C., Policy Supervisor dated February 18, 1944. Fellbaum advises that Mr. Thomas N. Carswell has been instructed to assist the board members or clerks in the processing of registrants due to the increase in physical examinations and induction calls, and due also to their recent change in clerks explaining that his assistance will greatly aid the local board in their work.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell from a parolee in Graham, Texas, dated August 18, 1955. Subject 95040 OP advises Carswell of his general well being, his new address and requests any current information regarding the "Clay County deal".

Klopfenstein, Chief, Ohio Bureau of Probation and Parole, from Jack Ross, Administrator, Interstate Parole Compact (by Sarah Landes, Supervisor, Parole Division), Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles, dated January 18, 1956. Official reply by Landes to correspondence received by Klopfenstein regarding the termination of the supervision of Subject OP 95040. Typewritten at the bottom of the page is correspondence from Sarah Landes to Mr. Carswell instructing Carswell to close out his file on Subject OP 95040 but notes that Ohio wishes to be advised of the knowledge of the "whereabouts" of Subject, if secured.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Chairman, Taylor County Parole Board, from E. A. Burkhart, Adult Authority Executive Secretary, Sacramento 14, California, dated September 18, 1952. Burkhart replies to the inquiry by Carswell concerning the status of the clemency application of Subject AA 57-1951 and advises Carswell that the application has been processed and a clemency meeting will be held within the next two months.

A letter addressed to the Department of State, Austin, Texas, Parole Division, Mrs. Betty Christian, Chief, from T. N. Carswell, Chairman, Taylor County Parole Board, dated June 18, 1953. Carswell addresses the letter from the Board dated June 3, 1953 regarding Subject 121,140 and requests an explanation regarding their discharge date of December 28, 1953. He advises of the content of the Governor's Proclamation and that the discharge date adds up to be June 19, 1953 which explains the reason that he advised Subject to file the application for Full Pardon and Restoration at this time.

A form letter addressed to a Parolee in Abilene, Texas, from John Ben Shepperd by (Miss) Sybil Dickinson, Chief, Parole Division, Department of State, Austin, Texas dated December 18, 1950. Copy to T. N. Carswell. The letter instructs the Parolee (Subject 9803-A) to contact parole supervisor, Mr. T. N. Carswell. Dickinson adds a note to Carswell requesting that he advise them of the results of his investigation.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from H. M. Weldon, First Baptist Church, Albany, Texas, dated February 18, 1941. Weldon advises of a meeting to be held in the Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church and presses Carswell to be there.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Jeff Davis, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys, dated September 18, 1941. Davis informs Carswell that Dr. E. A. Maness, Chairman of the Committee of Nomination, hopes that Carswell can be at the morning committee meeting to get his report in order for the business session in the afternoon.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Secretary-Treasurer, Lions Club, Abilene, Texas, from W. K. Wingfield, President, Lions Club of Temple, Temple, Texas, dated April 18, 1924. Wingfield defends Col. Perry explaining that the Waco meeting at which Col. Perry was not present resulted in things done there that he and his committee did not agree to. He expresses his hope to see Carswell at the Abilene Club, the Paris Convention and then at Omaha in June.

A form letter addressed to Lion Presidents and Secretaries, Lion Clubs of Texas, from Louis C. Perry, District Governor, Lions International, dated April 18, 1924. The letter advises of travel arrangements as provided officers of the Lions Clubs of Texas for the Paris Convention. Perry advises that certificates are "going out" to the Secretaries in this letter. Enclosed is a Round Trip Identification Certificate for the District Convention of Lions Clubs Annual State Meting, Paris, Texas dated May 5-6, 1924 with the signature of Louis C. Perry, District Governor of Texas.

Carswell advises Wight that the purpose for arranging the meeting is to acquaint the citizenship of this section with the need for defense and of the necessity for helping those now arrayed against the Axis powers.

A Western Union telegram sent to Mrs. Worth H. Clark, Ocala, Florida, from Norwood & Virginia, dated December 18, 1940. Carswell expresses their grief regarding the death of Worth hoping that his brother Allen was already there. They would not be able to go but to phone or wire anything she needed and was praying that God bless, comfort and keep close to her.

Postal Telegraph sent to Thomas N. Carswell, Sweetwater, Texas, from Eula Clark, Denver, Colorado, dated January 18. Eula acknowledges her receipt of the money expressing her appreciation with a promise of a letter to follow.
