Ensemble: A) Dress of wax coated metallic Bordeaux. Strapless, the heavy-weight fabric is stiffened and crinkled with fold accents; top spreads outward along neckline; dress has fitted under-structure with boning; mid-length; fully lined in maroon silk satin; side zip-closures. Designer's label: "Dolce & Gabbana / Made in Italy" Handwritten label: "POR F6A83T/R0226" B,C) 2 corset belts of silver metal with black lace-up closure at back and 2 locks with keys each at front; flat head screw accents. Each lock engraved with designer's label: "Dolce & Gabbana" D,E) Pumps of silver patent leather with pointed toe. Around lower section of toe box and heel are a line of simulated flat head screw accents. High spike heel. Size 39. Designer's label inside: "Dolce & Gabbana / Made in Italy" Stamped on sole: "Vero Cuoio / Made in Italy" "DG" "39"

Dress

Dress of violet paisley silk crepe with black, cream, and teal accents; crepe is gathered at neckline and attached to a brass metal neck adornment with open-front; V-neckline bodice wraps around at front into wide waistband; side-zip closure under left arm; large, loose bracelet-length sleeves are gathered at the wrists into a ½” cuff with a single button closure; knee-length skirt is heavily gathered into waistband and has an attached slip of red crepe. Designer's label: "Etro"

Oral History Interview with Afton Keeton, August 30, 2007

The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an interview with Afton Keeton. Keeton joined the Navy in July of 1942. He completed Hospital Corps School and became a Pharmacist Mate. He first served aboard the USS Sea Dragon (SS-194). They patrolled the Aleutian Islands. He was then stationed at the Submarine Base in Pearl Harbor, working in a sick bay. He then served aboard the USS Apollo (AS-25) with a relief crew. He provides some detail of working aboard a submarine, serving as the Doc, living conditions and undergoing his own appendectomy aboard the Apollo. In early 1945 he was assigned for 1 year to serve at a submarine base in St. Thomas. He then served as hospital corpsman on the USS Clamagore (SS-343). Keeton also worked on sonar watch, radar watch and as a cook during his time in the Navy. He spent a total of 30 years in the Navy, retiring in February of 1972.

Evening dress

Evening dress of silk knit in various color blocks of blues, browns, pinks, and yellow. One-shoulder halter style bodice with 2 ¾” shoulder strap and waistband of dark red knit. Some of the geometrical blocks are accented in abstract patterns with gems, beads, and/or sequins. Dress is full-length and slim fitting with 26” slit at center back. Left side zipper closure under left arm. Lined in light pink pink chiffon. Designer's label: "Missoni / Made in Italy"
