Pila discusses his family and Jewish background, antisemitism, the German invasion, life in the ghetto, executions, labor, transfer to Auschwitz-Birkenau, daily experience in internment, mining at Janina, the forced march to Bergen-Belsen, liberation, and life afterwards.

The interview contains details of Land's childhood and the death of his mother, his experiences in the Great Depression, his experience being a recruit and an educational advisor in the CCC, his experiences as an active duty officer for the Naval Air Station, and his experiences working at the Rusk State Hospital.

Photograph of the front and north side of the International & Great Northern (I&GN) Railroad Hospital located at 919 S. Magnolia in Palestine, Texas. It is a three-story, metal-framed, brick-faced hospital along with an outbuilding (the Nurses' Home), visible on the right side of the image. The building has a box-like massing with some Classical Revival detailing, especially around the primary entrance. The wide, cast stone bands divide the exterior into three components and emphasize the horizontal massing of the building.

Video recording from The Black Academy of Arts and Letters recorded for their 12th annual, Black Music and The Civil Rights Movement Concert to feature gospel singer Mavis Staples. The VHS footage recorded a Channel 5 television spot PSA that includes dates and information for the concert which was held January 15, 1995 at 7 pm at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. The footage cuts to black at the :21 second mark.
