This document is a message to Texas legislature from Governor J. S. Hogg. The document was a call to action concerning the matters of: railroad bonds and stocks, municipal indebtedness, land corporations, the railway commission, land and county boundaries, state banks, public education, mechanics' liens, convict labor, indigent ex-confederates, taxation, criminal laws, deadly weapons, lotteries, injunctions, stock quarantine, charities, board of pardon advisers, and the overall condition of the state of Texas.

This book includes the charter, constitution and by-laws of the Sterling Price Camp of the United Confederate Veterans, including a roster of members with their rank and unit affiliations.

Book containing a brief overview of the state of Texas and more specific focus on six specific counties, with extensive biographical sketches about persons related to the history of those places. According to the title page, it contains "a History of this Important Section of the Great State of Texas, from the Earliest Period of its Occupancy to the Present Time, together with Glimpses of its Prospects; also Biographical Mention of Many of the Pioneers and Prominent Citizens of the Present Time, and Full-page Portraits of the most Eminent Men of this Section."

General directory for Austin, Texas includes address listings for businesses and individuals as well as advertisements from local businesses. According to the title page, the directory contains "the present state, county and city governments, and a complete list of all county officials, post offices and money order offices in Texas; also an index of societies, associations, churches, corporations, educational institutes, the full name and address of all residents, their occupations or pursuits, and a Complete Classified Business Directory, also A Valuable Steet and Avenue Guide." The Table of Contents starts on page 6; the Index to Advertisements is on page 8.

Volume two of a two-volume set, covers Texas history from the time of Texas's fight for independence from Mexico through the gubernatorial administation of James S. Hogg in 1892.
