Hotel Blazilmar

Color postcard of the Hotel Blazilmar, located at 107 Porter Street, directly across from the I&GN Railroad Depot. The name of the hotel is a combination of the three investors: Howard Bland, A.J. Zilker and T.W. Marse. This hotel was originally the Murphy Hotel until 1917.

Postcard to Mrs. Sallie Beard, discussing the sender's two-week stay in Boerne, Texas so far, including the state of the weather. The front of the postcard features a photograph of Ye Kendall Inn, in Boerne, a long, two-story plantation style house with porches on both stories and a screened-in sun room on the far left side. The gravel driveway that runs parallel to the house is lined with trees, and has four automobiles parked on it. The name of the house is printed at the bottom of the postcard.

The Gables - Marshall, Texas

Color halftone postcard printed on linen style paper of the Gables Cafe, Marshall, Texas, probably from the late 1930s or early 1940s. The one-story side-gable building has a small cross-gable entrance and an addition on the left side. A tall sign mounted on a single pole says "Gables Cafe." A shorter sign to its right is shaped like a woman wearing a long skirt holding one arm out, and the word "cafe" is legible on her apron. Printed on the sky part of the image is the title, "The Gables -- Marshall, Texas." The caption on the back lists features of the cafe, including "Open 24 Hours, Hammond Organ Melodies Noon and Night." There is no postmark or message on the back of the card. Printed on the back between the message and address sections: "Nationwide Post Card Co., Arlington, Texas -- In Dallas, Texas, See Sam Sabor, 7420 Red Bud Drive."
