Written underneath the image are "[sic] Texas & Pacific Ry - North Franklin St underpass looking north - 1979 Marshall, Texas - This is the bridge as seen on the inside cover of the T&P book that has the man leaning against the rail (Bill Sandifer) Mrs Trebes House (not showen) is on the right. My initials are carved in the fence that faces the track. And the man leaning against the rail is just up the bank on the opposite side. He is facing east and her house is right on the corner east of the bridge" and "-Marshall Adams Photo." There is also an illustration underneath the photo mapping out the roads near the image.

[Carnegie Library, Wiley College]

Photograph of the front entrance of the Carnegie Library on the Wiley College Campus, Marshall, Texas, after a grant was obtained from the Carnegie Foundation in 1907. It is a two-story brick building with Ionic columns on either side of the doorway and classical-style architecture. There are trees and shrubberies planted around the building.

[Home of the Governor of Missouri during the Civil War 1863-1865]

Photograph of a two-story hipped-roof house with wood siding that served as the Missouri Governor's house from 1863-1865 during the Civil War. The Governor rented it from Mrs. Mary Key. It was located at 204 East Crockett St. Architectural details indicate that the house was expanded and updated after the Civil War, later in the 19th century. Inscription in ink on the back of the photograph states: "Home of the governor of Missouri during the Civil War 1866."

Photograph of the house at 305 South Grove St., Marshall, Texas, taken in the 1930s by photographer Julian Barnes for a project of Mrs. Johnnie McCutchan. It is a two-story side-gable house of five bays with a two-story portico with four columns. Three dormer windows are in the roof. In the book "Hsitoric Marshall Revisited" by Edward W. Plummer, it is identified as the Fletcher Home, built in 1929 from the remains of a two-story house demolished by Henry McGee.

Photograph of the Fry-Barry house, 314 W. Austin St., Marshall, Texas, built between 1853 and 1861 by Fidel Bircher, designed by architect W. R. D. Ward. It is a Greek Revival style raised cottage, with brick lower portion and wood siding on the main floor. A 1920s automobile with a canvas top is parked in front of the house. This photograph is one of a small series taken by photographer Julian Barnes for a project of Mrs. Johnnie McCutchan. Written on the back by Mrs. McCutchan: "Home of Cousin Pammie Barry, W. Austin, Marshall, Texas."
