Letter from Daniel W. Kempner to Ernst Freund discussing Fanny Fruend's return to the U.S. and Rosa Anspach being out of a job. Mr. Kempner also informs him that he was in Europe the previous summer and he wishes he knew Mr. Fruend was in Paris at the time so they could have met up. Mr. Kempner finishes off the letter by expressing he feels unqualified to help Mr. Freund decide whether or not to change jobs, but that he believes stability is very important and to be certain of what he wants before making any decision.

The Proposed Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement: Background and Key Issues

The proposed Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) is a new agreement for combating intellectual property rights (IPR) infringement. The ACTA negotiation concluded in October 2010, nearly three years after it began, and negotiating parties released a final text of the agreement in May 2011. Negotiated by the United States, Australia, Canada, the European Union and its 27 member states, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Singapore, and Switzerland, the ACTA is intended to build on the IPR protection and enforcement obligations set forth in the 1995 World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS Agreement).

Letter from Dr. Bruce Webster to Daniel Webster Kempner discussing about travel schedule wherein Dr. Webster returns on the Queen Mary on September 2, missing Mr. Kempner during his trip. Dr. Bruce introduces Dr. Lester Lipsitch whom he his going to meet and says that he will share the medical history of Mr. Kempner so he can give him the required medical advice in Paris. Dr. Bruce also mentions about a clinic in Rome which he is informed about has efficient personnel. He regrets that there is no one that he knows in Zurich but assures that probably Dr. Lipsitch can help in this matter. Dr. Bruce is glad about the visit from Danny to Mr. Kempner, mentions that Mary jean is facing a stormy period but doing her best.
