Evening dress of turquoise blues and shades of pink silk chiffon with beaded bodice. Full-length dress has 3 pink chrysanthemum flowers, one wraps around left side bodice, one at center front hemline, and other at center back hemline of skirt. The pattern of the petals continues beyond the flowers in shades of turquoise blue. Round neckline and hemlines are cut along the petal shapes. Bodice is accented with bugle beads in self-colors throughout. Bracelet length sleeves with covered snap closure; unstructured silhouette. Beaded evening dress

Dress of color blocked blue, pink, and orange silk chiffon gently patterned from the bust to hem with multicolored butterflies, exotic flowers, and blue and green blades of grass. The full-length dress is embellished with horizontal stripes of bugle beads that are spaced farther apart as they reach the bottom of the dress; butterflies, flowers, and grass blades are embellished with seed and bugle beads. Band collar; straight, unstructured silhouette. Top of dress is blue, middle is pink, and bottom is orange. Center-back zip closure with two hook and eyes at collar; 15" slit at right side. Built-in shoulder pads. Long sleeves are unlined; balance of dress is lined in light mauve rayon. Beaded graphic dress

Dress of bright green silk chiffon printed with multicolor shapes and with all-over scattered sequins and beading. The printed design includes circles, flowers, and fluid lines and triangles in shades of pink, yellow, blue, orange, and violet. The sequins are clear, and are secured with tiny colored beads, the colors of which match the color of the dress over which they are sewn. The full-length A-line sheath has a high,round neckline and U-shaped back with beaded band trim at neckline. The long sleeves have five non-functioning beaded buttons at wrist, and five hidden snap closures from wrist. The dress has an attached underdress of matte silk printed with same design as the overdress. The garment is fully lined with cream silk jacquard of repeated pattern of Hanae Mori's name. The underdress has a zipper closure at center back from neckline to above waist. The overdress has a series of hidden snaps to conceal the zipper, and a line of eight beaded buttons matching those on the sleeves, also non-functional. A single hook-and-loop closure at neck secures the top of the garment. Designer's label at left of zipper: "[Japanese characters] / Hanae Mori"

The Civic Roles of Neighborhood Associations in Seoul, Korea: Implications for Urban Governance

This dissertation answers three research questions: "What differences and similarities exist among neighborhood associations in the United States, Japan, and Seoul, South Korea?," "What are the civic roles of neighborhood associations in apartment complexes in Seoul, South Korea?," and "What factors promote neighborhood associations to play civic roles in urban governance?" To answer the first question, this research analyzes the purposes, governance structures, roles, and legal substance of neighborhood associations by reviewing previous studies, public and legal documents, court cases in the U.S., and by conducting interviews. To answer the second and the third questions, a 2016 survey, "Understanding the Roles of Neighborhood Associations in Urban Governance" was conducted with 154 representatives of neighborhood associations in Seoul. Social capital theory, government failure theory, and third party government theory were used to create hypotheses that test proposed relationships about neighborhood interactions, community characteristics, and the civic roles played by neighborhood associations. The findings show that neighborhood associations have adopted several roles including service provider, partner in public service delivery for local government, and advocate for residents in urban governance.
