Divided skirt and vest

Ensemble. A) Vest of wool, scoop-neck, with 5 hook-and-eye closures down center front. The vest is covered in sewn-on black sequins, and has a 1" border of orange, white and gold beads with gold trim at neckline, front opening, hem, and armholes. On front and back of vest are 3" diamond shapes formed of the same beads. The white and orange beads are plastic. Fully lined in black. Labels: "Valentina LTD / RN 34435 / Made in Hong Kong"; "100% Wool / Made in Hong Kong"; "Medium". B) Divided skirt or pants of black wool in a satin weave simulating crepe-back satin. Folding fan of cockade type. Red metal handle embossed with birds and flowering vines. The pleated paper fans forms a full circle. One side printed with a scene of a long-tailed bird (Phoenix?) sitting amid flowering branches with gold background. Reverse is printed with a scene of two birds flying over flowering branches. Interview with Howard Yergin, an employee of Caltex Petroleum Corporation from New York City. Yergin discusses his career with the company, including his education and Army service, hiring by Caltex, move to Shanghai in 1948 and business conducted there, businessmen who helped reestablish Caltex's Chinese market after WWII, fleeing China in 1949, attempts at recouping capital from the Chinese government, operations in Hong Kong, changes in the oil market over the years, corporate financing, internal reorganization, OPEC, Persian Gulf economies, South African operations, the tanker fleet, and the company's move from New York to Dallas.
