This study analyzes the prisoner of war program in Texas and evaluates the Army's role in carrying out this assignment. Additional questions were, how were POWs treated? What problems did they create? How did civilians react to the presence of 50,000 prisoners?

Letter from August [Huth] to [Ferdinand] Louis [Huth] stating that Castro has already left for Texas and describing ideas for trade. He also mentions the possibility of Louis going into business with a tanner in Deisslingen who may emigrate. Signed August on May 26, 1846 in Neufreystaedt.

Letter from June Yates to Cal describing his travels across Germany after the war was over. June notes the destruction that the bombs inflicted on some of the large cities and testifies for the accuracy of the horror stories told from the concentration camps; they are still very busy as they are the only hospital for miles.

Interview with Walter Littmann, a businessman, chemist, and former German prisoner-of-war of the United States during World War II. Littmann discusses his involvement in the Afrika Korps, miliary conflicts, life at the internment camp in Mexia, Texas, and eventual repatriation.
