Mellon Foundation recently funded a study of the landscape of usage data for open-access scholarly monographs and an investigation of the viability of creating a data trust for the sharing of usage data among stakeholders in the publishing ecosystem. In spring 2019, the Book Industry Study Group will publish a final white paper that takes into account feedback from the community during a consultation period. This presentation will provide a summary of the main findings and proposals of the forthcoming white paper.

This report documents the Call and response: Engaging with African American male students through culturally relevant music resources project funded through the 2017 Dean's Innovation Grant. The final report describes project activities, budget, outcomes, best practices, and sustainability.

Presented at the 2017 NFAIS Open Access Conference. In June 2015 the University of North Texas Libraries launched a for-fee service for publishing works of scholarship from authors affiliated with the university. While authors can choose from a menu of editing and design options, all publications are made free to read online through the institutional repository. Editing and design are carried out by freelancers and vendors, with charges passed on to authors; project management is provided by libraries staff for free. This service is meant to complement the UNT Press, which operates under a traditional university press model. This presentation reflects on the parameters of the service—such as charging authors, delivering publications through the repository, requiring free public access but not Creative Commons licenses, and not organizing peer review or charging for project management—and on what authors have chosen from the menu of options since the service was launched.

This report is the final output of an in-depth evaluation using the Campus Pride Index (CPI) and includes answers to the specific questions in the CPI survey, the full list of call numbers relevant to LGBT subjects, lists of links to LGBT-specific queries of the UNT Libraries catalog, and a list of subjects for which additional resources will be sought.

This presentation discusses Project Meerkat, a project aimed “to develop guidelines and standards for digital scholarly monograph usage data and to construct a neutral organizational apparatus for the ongoing collection and aggregation of data about these scholarly publications,” and the resulting cooperative to be developed out of that project, the Publishing Analytics Data Alliance.
