This article proposes the creation and evaluation of an AI based context-aware mobile learning system designed to provide real-time training and support for medical cleaning staff.

This article proposes a method to model evacuation flows and reveal the patterns of evacuation flows at different spatial scales. First, the authors present a method to characterize evacuation flows at different geographic scales: the state level, considering evacuation flows across southern states affected by Irma; the urban/rural area level, and the county level. Then they demonstrate results on the predictability of evacuation flows in the most affected state, Florida, by using the following environmental factors: the destructive force of the hurricane, the socioeconomic context, and the evacuation policy issued for counties. The results presented in this paper can help decision makers to better understand population evacuation behaviors given certain environmental features, which in turn will aid in the design of efficient and informed preparedness and response strategies.

The citation recommendation strategy can be helpful for valuable citation discovery, semantic scientific retrieval, and automatic literature review generation.

Article reporting on how journal articles are presented within the Open Language Archive Community’s (OLAC) OAI-PMH aggregator for language resources. Understanding how secondary journal materials are presented in OLAC records is a first step towards increasing the end-user utility of the OLAC aggregator. It was presented at the 2nd International Workshop on Digital Language Archives held on June 30, 2023 as part of the ACM/IEEE Joint Conference on Digital Libraries 2023.

Presentation for the "Open Science and Open Data for Sustainable Development: A Global View" panel that discusses the global landscape of open science.

This article reports the first empirical investigation of various dimensions of organization and representation of recorded knowledge and information in language archives. The study used a combination of semi-structured interviews and content analysis. Results demonstrate that, while some of the phenomena related to organization of information in language archives are specific to these types of archives, others are more typical and have been addressed by libraries in past research and practice.

This panel brings together leaders from knowledge management and information science to discuss the trends and opportunities for collaboration within and between these fields.

Presentation for the 2017 Texas Conference on Digital Libraries. This presentation discusses survey data showing differences in regard to faculty awareness of OA declarations, OA policy, and intent to deposit.

Presentation on the long term preservation of and universal access to language data which may tap into typologically rare phenomena and which represents the intangible and irreplaceable heritage of indigenous communities. This language data can be in the form of audio, video, picture, and various digital formats. In order to prepare the source files of a documentation project for ingest to a digital library, linguists and digital librarians must develop a common procedure that takes into consideration (1) provenance and varying formats of materials and (2) necessary metadata specific to linguistic datasets.

Conference proceedings of the 1st International Workshop on Digital Language Archives held on September 30-October 1, 2021 as part of the ACM/IEEE Joint Conference on Digital Libraries 2021.
