Presentation provides an overview of the structure upon which modern library resource description is based, and we will highlight the difficulties of imposing this description standard on music for which it was not optimized, using examples from the Grateful Dead repertoire. This presentation introduces ideas on how to handle authority control using a variety of tools, both paid and free. The presenter describes how their library handles authority control, describe vendors and programs, and demonstrate a few automated authority control processes using MarcEdit, Sierra, OCLC and a few other programs.

In this presentation, catalogers from a large academic library share how they make e-resources discoverable through their approach to record quality assessment, batch editing with regular expressions in MarcEdit, and record load tracking. The presenters also provided handouts with helpful information about their processes and procedures.
