Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Confusion center" of Oklahoma City's new one-way street network, which went into effect Tuesday, is the corner of Grand and Broadway, where southbound traffic finds itself stymied facing all northbound lanes south of Grand. The camera pointed north, shows the mixup. Since Grand is all east bound, the only out for the southbound motorist is a left turn through several lanes of oncoming traffic. With cars determined to travel the one lane south on Broadway Tuesday, confusion was at its peak most of the day. Pedestrians, not to be excluded, ducked steadily, avoiding cars turning left off Grand and Broadway. Safety engineers agree mor explicity signals should go up on the corners."

Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "Billowing Black Smoke covered vast areas of Oklahoma City Tuesday night as the Rounds and Porter Co. warehouse, 853 NW 2, was consumed by a four-alarm fire. A brisk south wind sent heavy smoke over the entire northwest section of the city. Construction materials stored in the building provided the fuel for the raging inferno. Firefighters battled the blaze nearly three hours before they were able to enter the building and get at the heart of the fire. The picture at left shows an aerail ladder being used to throw water on top of the blaze. At right, smoke billows above the blaze. Firemen were still at the scene late wednesday morning."

Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "Oklahoma City's low water crossing over the North Canadian river on Agnew already past its completion date, probably won't be finished for two more weeks. Freezing weather has halted work on the crossing and nothing can be done until it thaws. Being constructed by the county, with the city furnishing materials, the crossing is designed to eliminate triffic bottlenecks in southwestern Oklahoma City caused by cuting of Agnew and S Pennsylvania by the river floodway project. Bridges over the floodway channel cannot be built because bond issues to provide the money failed. Although pipe to carry any river flow is in place for the crossing and has been covered, the roadway cannot yet be surfaced. Earl Overholser, superintendent for the county commissioner district of Ralph Adair, said river sand was used to cover the pipe in one section and that it must be removed."

Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "Fire, fueled by an accumulation of old paint and fanned by north winds gusting to 40 miles an hour, destroyed the A&A Guaranteed Auto Painting Co. shop this morning at 407 NW 8. Capt. Eldon Tinsley, acting district fire chief, estimated danage at $75,000. About 15 automobiles in the shop for paint and body repairs were damaged. The blaze, shooting through roof skylights when firemen arrived shortly after 2:20 a.m., was confined to the shop building. About 20 residents of upstairs apartments in a building to the east were evacuated, but firemen kept the blaze from spreading. The roof and a portion of one wall collapsed but none of the firemen from 12 units answering the two alarms were injured."
