Talmadge expresses his appreciation for the communication from Carswell regarding the labor legislation and promises to protect the public while being fair to both labor and management alike.

Mahon expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell regarding pending labor legislation and foreign aid reduction. Mahon advises that he advocates the passage of effective labor reform and that he has voted in the past for reductions in the foreign aid program. A handwritten postscript by Mahon states, "Your letters are always welcome - Remind me of the old days. George".
