This was the first cooperative project in Oklahoma between the Soil Conservation Service [SCS] and the Board of County Commissioners under the Upstream Flood Prevention Program. Materials were furnished by SCS and the Commissioners supplied the labor and equipment. OK-4792-13.

Contour Farming

Photograph of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph javarsky and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Javarsky are plowing terraced land on the contour. Terraces spill into alfalfa waterway in left background. Waterway produced 400 bales of hay on most recent cutting. Javarsky says with hydraulic equipment very few problems are encountered in plowing the land.
