Exclaiming how excited Broadus was when she left Kolter's classroom. Broadus writes that the Summer Institute program seems to be going very successful and that she is pleased with the implementation of the discipline-based art education and with how the members of T.D. Marshall's are involved. Broadus writes that she plans to revisit the classroom at the end of the month for another session and that she'll call to confirm the time and to discuss with Mr. Graham what time she could visit his classroom for the writing art lesson.

Photocopy of a letter from Thomas S. Tocco, Superintendent of Fort Worth ISD, to Jack Davis and Bill McCarter, co-directors of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. Tocco writes to confirm Fort Worth ISD's commitment as a full partner in the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. FWISD will plan and implement full two-week summer institute and a minimum of three extended institute / renewals during the 1995 - 1996 school year. Tocco writes that they will cover any costs that exceed the $5,000 contributed by NTIEVA. Enclosed in the letter are stipend worksheets for the faculty.

In regards to requesting the chairpersons of kindergarten, second and third grade to identify themes for the upcoming 1991 NTIEVA summer institute. Broadus writes that the themes themes will be taught throughout the year to the children and she's looking forward to their contribution.

In reference to a letter Dorothy had sent to Kathy Talley-Jones of the Getty Center, about some concerns Andrews had after attending a Texas Arts Education Association conference. In particular, some concerns about what Dr. Fox has said during the conference which Reynolds finds disturbing, as many other faculty had not reported it from that perspective. The rest of the letter goes into details about North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, and the good they have been doing for Texas institutes and higher arts education.

Regarding a meeting that fell on June 22, 1995, notably, the participation of Dallas ISD in future activities with the Institute. McCarter starts the letter with the proposal of a new time frame for the Institute activities, and mentions how the meeting brought up the ideas of having all-day Saturday sessions. However, McCarter expresses his concern that some teachers from the Dallas ISD might be unable to attend all-day Saturday sessions, and how important it is that they will attend all the meetings because of how complex the Institute is. Included in the letter is an observation from Chad Woolery, stating that due to budget and time that Dallas would be unable to continue participation with NTIEVA as a consortium member. McCarter addresses that they have had issues with Dallas since they began to participate.

Newspaper clippings featuring articles about Plano Independent School District supporting art programs, in the first article "School board OKs art plan," many parents called the school board in support of the school art program and following such PISD will hire five art specialist at $33,000 a year to augment art education. In the continuing article "PISD to hire art specialists," the school will be participating in two summer programs by the Getty Foundation to teach the faculty how to fully use the new concepts to tackle art education.

A newspaper clipping featuring an article on Dr. Edmund "Ted" Pillsbury, director of the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, by presenting him with an honorary doctor of fine arts degree. Dr. Pillsbury received his art history degree from Yale University and his doctorate from the University of London's Courtauld Institute of Art, but his outstanding support of the arts in North Texas deserved him recognition.

Photocopy of a letter from William McCarter to Dr. Watt Black about a "Meadows Rotation Report" on a student named Amber Coker. McCarter brings up concerns regarding Coker's completed studio hours and the required amount for graduating with a BFA from UNT. There is an added letter, hand-written, to McCarter from Nancy Miller who also received a copy. There are three asterisks next to the information about the 30 required studio hours and how they lined up with the Meadows program, which is also underlined. A small note next to this reads "I would also be very(underlined) concerned." The hand-written letter that follows the end of the typed one reads "May 29, 1990 Dr. McCarter__ In much haste...apparently Amber was confused about what she must complete in terms of art studios. The reason that I questioned so strongly was because I have had such respect for the North Texas (Art) teachers preparation. It seemed to me that Amber was not really in the Fine Arts(underlined) program and as such was not being counseled into enough art studios, art history, etc. to properly prepare her.
