This design consists in "the staff-head having the slot . . . and opposite inside grooves, in combination with a dasher-stem head conforming to the recesses in the head and carrying a spring in an upper cavity thereof, a plunger having its toe resting upon said spring, and operative mechanism" (lines 77-83).

Patent for a new and improved seed planter or dropper. This design utilizes a hopper, a shaft provided with cups, a bevel having a countersunk opening provided with a recess, a gate hinged in said recess and held in contact with the cups on the shaft by a spring, and a concave partition fitting the periphery of the shaft, all constructed and arranged in a novel way (lines 68-75). Additionally, this design utilizes a wheel, the motion of which dispenses the seed.

Patent for a new and improved water heater for washing machines. This design "relates to that class of washing-machines in which a rotary slatted cylinder for holding the clothes and a coil of pipe for supplying the drum with hot water are employed; and it consists in certain improvements in the construction and arrangement of the heater and pipes for conveying water to and discharging it from the drum" (lines 14-21).

Patent for a new and improved attachment for harvesters and mowers. This design is "to afford means whereby a mowing or reaping machine may be enabled easily to travel over soft or marshy ground; . . . the novelty consists in a shoe proper for each driving-wheel of the machine, each shoe made of a curved piece of metal . . . and provided with a long narrow slot running lengthwise of the shoe, . . . and so adapted that under each wheel one of the shoes shall be placed in such a manner that one of the shoes shall pass through the longitudinal slot in the shoe" (lines 19-32).
