Letter from Elizabeth Upshur Teackle to her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Upshur Teackle, written while her daughter was away attending Madam Grelaud's French School in Philadelphia. She shares that her father returned home the previous afternoon, and that she's been missing them both very much. Her Aunt Sarah Teackle Bancker will be visiting them in Princess Anne soon, and Elizabeth's father will come get her in about six weeks to bring her home. She talks about a visit from Thomas Wilkinson, the son of Gen. Wilkinson, and says he's very good-looking and dressed like he's in the "meddlesome" navy.
