Carswell acknowledges receipt of their letters expressing his regret that Peg was sick. He describes his enjoyment in speaking to the High School class of the Future Farmers of America and his trip with Mr. Tittle to Robert Lee where Mr. Bradley asked after Peg.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Milton [Milton Whiting], Whiting Oil Company, Clifton Forge, Virginia, dated November 27, 1948. Whiting acknowledges his receipt of Carswell's letter and check noting that he will have approximately 1000 miles on the car to have it broken in and explains regarding the care of the car. He requests that when Carswell comes for the car that he be given "a day or two's notice" so he will not be "out of place".

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, 5th Division Commander, The American Legion, Abilene, Texas, from Bill--W. J. Wisdom, 17th Dist. Commander, The American Legion, Stephenville, Texas, dated October 27, 1942. Wisdom offers his suggestions for the committees on Negro Veterans and The Memorial Highway: D. C. Harris, Mineral Wells; J. W. Clements, Stephenville; Floyd Campbell, Hamilton. Handwritten notation by T. N. Carswell adds the suggestion of D. C. Harris of Mineral Wells, R. N. Richardson of Hardin-Simmons University.

A letter written to Mr. Charles Maisel, Department Commander, Phillips, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, Commander 5th Division, dated November 27, 1942. Carswell expresses his regrets at not seeing Maisel at Wellington and describes the convention events in which he participated. He advises that he has sent his committee nominations and that he will attempt a little membership campaign on his own during December assuring that the extra cost will be justified.

A letter written to Maj. Gen. Henry Terell, Jr., Commanding General, 90th Division, Camp Barkeley, Texas, from Fred Hughes, Post Commander, Parramore Post 57, and T. N. Carswell, Commander, 5th Division, dated November 27, 1942. Hughes and Carswell express their appreciation to the officers and men under Terell's command for their participation in the Armistice Day parade advising that it's success was due, in a large way, to the 90th Division.

A letter written to Legionnaire Thos. N. Carswell, 5th Division Commander, The American Legion, Abilene, Texas, from Harry E. Rather, Department Adjutant, The American Legion, Austin, Texas, dated July 27, 1943. Rather compliments Carswell on his Fifth Division Convention "success" and on his speech as one of the best he has heard.

A letter written to Omar Burleson, from T. N. Carswell, dated May 27, 1970. Carswell congratulates Burleson on his "Release" for May 28 and suggests that for the benefit of the country he arise on the floor and make known more fully the consequences of our action or inaction in Southeast Asia.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Wright Morrow, Houston, Texas, dated December 27, 1956. Morrow expresses his appreciation for the copy of Carswell's letter written to Senator Daniel in regards to the vacated Senate seat and for his interest. He offers the season's greetings.

A letter written to Mr. Archer, from T. N. Carswell, dated May 27, 1960. Carswell advises Archer of his membership of P.O.A.U. [Protestants and Other Americans United] from the beginning. He advises that the duty and responsibility of the organization, and of Archer as it's leader, is of transcendent import to their way of life. He cites an example, "the adroit method", being used to mislead people in order to break down their idea of the separation of church and state and force upon citizens the support of a religious system with which they disagree. He advises of an attached check to fund the fight.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from R. E. Thomason, United States District Judge, El Paso, Texas, dated June 27, 1961. Thomason expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell regarding the hanging of his portrait in the Pecos Federal Court House. He expresses his wish that Carswell could have been present and that he can never forget the honor that was given to him.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Rupert, R. H. Johnson & Co. Investment Securities, New York 5, N. Y., dated December 27, 1954. Johnson expresses his appreciation for the gift of the tie purchased from Neely-Barnes and requests that Carswell give his regards to Charlie Barnes.

A letter written to Capt. V. D. Duble, Stamford Defense Guard, Stamford, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, dated March 27, 1942. Carswell acknowledges the receipt of the letter from Duble reporting the progress in the training of his guard company. He advises Duble that he will refer the letter to Major Alvis who has replaced him as Active Commander.

A letter written to Mr. Thos. W. Peck, Kalamazoo Vegetable Parchment Company, Parchment, Kalamazoo, Michigan, from T. N. Carswell, dated February 27, 1939. Carswell expresses his appreciation for the interest Peck showed in the enterprise into which he had invested his savings confirming that the information from Peck allowed him to succeed in eliminating the "disturbing factor". Carswell assures Peck that his name was never used.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from E. M. Connell, Superintendent, Anson Public Schools, Anson, Texas, dated March 27, 1941. Connell expresses his appreciation to Carswell that he is to speak to the student body of the Anson High School advising that the program committee has requested that he discuss "Our Part in the National Defense".

A letter written to Governor Allan Shivers, from T. N. Carswell, dated September 27, 1955. Carswell advises that he heard the committee that is to nominate a National Committeeman has agreed on Shivers and for Texas' sake he hopes what he has heard is true.

A letter written to Mr. Morrow, from T. N. Carswell, dated September 27, 1956. Carswell advises Morrow of his having talked to several people about his possible candidacy for the U. S. Senate to succeed Senator Daniel. He advises Morrow that most of those people he spoke with have worked as a unit, generally supporting Price Daniel for Governor, but advises that Mr. Daniel's hold on the party is now a tenuous one.

A letter written to the Honorable Sam Russell, House of Representatives, Washington, D. C., from T. N. Carswell, dated January 27, 1941. Carswell provides a letter of reference for E. D. Thomas, Tye, Texas. Carswell advises Russell that Thomas has applied for reinstatement as rural mail carrier at Trent.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Sam Russell, House of Representatives, Washington, D. C., dated February 27, 1943. Russell acknowledges his receipt of the telegram from Carswell sent from Austin on February 26th, and notes with interest what Carswell has to say of a national do-nothing policy in regard to strikes, slow-downs, and absenteeism. Russell defends his record and advises that he looks forward to something being done in regard to this matter, "but one man cannot storm the Congress, and there are 435 Congressmen. It takes 218 of this number to pass a measure in the House". He reminds Carswell of the Smith Anti-Strike Bill that passed the House, but through the efforts of the Administration, was buried in the Labor Committee of the Senate. "I trust that this letter will make my position clear to you, and assure you that I shall always be on the firing line to save America as well from within, as from abroad."

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from E. L. Wade, President, El Paso Bar Association, El Paso, Texas, dated May 27, 1944. Wade acknowledges the receipt of the letter from Carswell in which he advised that Mr. Thornton Hardie will get good support from the Abilene Bar in his candidacy for Vice President of the State Bar of Texas. He expresses his appreciation for Carswell for having written and advises that he called Hardie and read the letter to him noting that Hardie was "much gratified".

A letter written to Mr. Carswell from Mrs. J. M. Radford, Hotel Windsor, Abilene, Texas, dated February 27, 1947. Radford expresses her appreciation for his "thoughtfulness in times like these when all is in confusion, turmoil and strife" by sending flowers. [Flowers sent to remember a party given on February 25, 1933 to celebrate "50 years of building Abilene" honoring J. M. Radford.]

A letter addressed to Georgia Bay Line, Chicago, Illinois from T. N. Carswell, dated August 27, 1953. Carswell requests "a friendly chore" for a fruit basket and candy to be placed in the cruise cabin for Mr. J. B. Dalton.

A letter written to Mr. Carswell from W. M. and Lillian Lines, Perryton, Texas, dated March 27, 1971. Lines advises of an enclosed check for fifteen dollars for "working up" the income tax report and then describes the beautiful spring day wishing for Carswell the best of everything.

A postcard addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas From Sarah Anna Simmons Crane, Yankton, South Dakota, postmarked Yankton, South Dakota, April 27, 1940. The reverse side includes correspondence written to Mr. Carswell from Sarah Anna Simmons Crane, dated April 26, 1940. Crane expresses how glad she was that Carswell spoke at President Sandefer's Funeral. She thought it so fine of him to suggest a building as a Memorial.
