The illustration compares men to trees in that if we are healthy we always continue to grow, our strength depends upon the unseen, sometimes we are barren, but the most beautiful are deeply grounded in their source of nourishment and reflect that and bear good fruit. This was first preached in Ana in 1904, and again in Ozona3/16/1906.

The Watchman on the Wall

A typewritten manuscript for a sermon using the text of Ezekiel 33:1-7. The Watchman is the preacher of the church, and as such, Baten took First Baptist of Cisco to task. They were not carrying through with decisions to build a new church, prepare for a visiting evangelist to give a revival. They do not recognize the needs of the city of Cisco, or the poor financial policy of the church. This was his warning to the local church, and was preached at Cisco, Texas.
