Photograph taken for a newspaper owned by the Oklahoma Publishing Company. Caption: "Lucky Driver Cheats Death. Thurman Isaac Jefferson, 21, of 501 E Harmon, Midwest City, hit a bridge with his car Saturday in the 4800 block E Reno, flipped over into a creek and walked away with minor injuries. Trooper Garland Richey declared it was a "miracle" he was not killed. Then he gave Jefferson a ticket for reckless driving. Richey said Jefferson was going east and started to pass another car. He ran off the road and the left front of his car hit the banister of a bridge of a small creek. Jefferson's car turned end over end and rolled over on its top. It dropped 12 feet into a dry creek bed. Jefferson was in the front. "If it hadn't rolled as it turned over end for end, it would have crushed him when it came down," Richey said. Jefferson was treated at the Midwest City clinic for a bad bump on the head and released."
