Caption: "A three-alarm fire in the Public Supply Co. warehouse near NW 4 and Douglas virtually destroyed the metal building and caused damage estimated at more than $100,000 today. The fire was discovered in the northeast section of the building in the 1200 block of NW 4 shortly before 9:45 a.m. Bob Teaster, who works in the Public Supply order department in a building across the street, said he saw four children near the northeast corner of the building and saw smoke pouring out of the building at about the same time. Teaster said he ran out to the warehouse and grabbed a fire extinguisher and called for another, "but by the time I got ahold of it, it was out of control."...Seventy firemen fought the blaze with 15 pieces of firefighting equipment. Two firemen, Winfred "Wimpy" Lindsay, 33, and James Clendenin, 36, were treated for smoke inhalation at Mercy Hospital, a hospital spokesman reported. They were listed in satisfactory condition. Assistant Fire Chief C. J. Miller would give no immediate damage estimate. Cal Wright, one of the owners of the building supply company estimated loss to the building …
