Whitehead advises that she was afraid her telephone calls had bothered Carswell and assures him that she is not critical of him but was trying to understand their tax returns noting the "good deal of money" it might involve for which she should start making arrangements.

A letter addressed to Col. Royden Williamson, Public Relations Officer, Eighth Corps Service Command, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, dated August 26, 1942. Carswell requests of Williamson that it be made possible for Lt. Col. Julian C. Hyer to be present for the main address at the dedication of the Parramore Post, American Legion building.

A letter written to Peg [Peggy Carswell] from "Daddy" [T. N. Carswell], dated February 26, 1932. Carswell expresses his enjoyment while she and Mother were in Abilene, that it was hard to see her leave but knows it is best for her. He compares home without her there to a "small unit of Goldsmith's 'Deserted Village'". He advises of his immediate travel plans and notes that when he travels to New Orleans if he goes to Austin he will at least call.
