Letter from D. C. Riley to Dr. Joseph Pound concerning his being confined to the bed for more than four weeks. Riley tells about the doctor cutting a place on his jaw and having black blood come out; he was also given a shot of moonshine in his arm which made him sick to his stomach though eventually it made him sleep.

She urges Ms. Sorrell to write back if she is feeling well as she nor other family members have not heard from her in a while. Ms. Cavett also discusses the details of some letters she received and informs Ms. Sorrell that she plans to return home soon.
