Westfull requests a statement from Carswell to vouch for his integrity. In a postscript, he requests that Carswell send the original to Roy E. Mayes, President of the Carthage Marble Corp and the copy to him. Carswell makes note that he answered as requested in as helpful a way as he knew how.

A letter written to T. N. Carswell from Omar Radford, Dallas 16, Texas, dated January 26, 1947. Radford advises that he has noted what Carswell says relative to Hotel stock and advises that he is making a new note for Carswell explaining his friendship means more than money noting the old note was at six per cent hence the new note is at four per cent.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, from Joseph T. Zottoli, Dorchester, Massachusetts, dated February 26, 1946. Zottoli declines the invitation to address a meeting in Abilene due to a full schedule until Fall.

A letter written to Mr. Carswell from Mrs. J. M. Radford, Hotel Windsor, Abilene, Texas, dated February 26, 1946. Radford "marvels" at Carswell's memory in these busy times and expresses her appreciation for the carnations he sent. [Flowers sent to remember a party given on February 25, 1933 to celebrate "50 years of building Abilene" honoring J. M. Radford.]

A letter written to Judge Sam Russell, House of Representatives, Washington, D. C., from T. N. Carswell, dated January 26, 1946. Carswell requests of Russell that his name be put on the mailing list to receive the Congressional Record and that Russell do all he can against the so-called FEPC Legislation advising of the name being a misnomer. He advises of the legislation being unfair to workers, "Carpet Bagger" legislation seventy-five years out of date and discloses his opinion regarding strikes.

A letter written to Senator Tom Connally, Washington, D. C., from T. N. Carswell, dated January 26, 1946. Carswell requests that Connally use every ounce of his influence to kill the so-called FEPC Bill calling it "Carpet Bagger" Legislation seventy-five years out of date. "Labor leadership, however, seems to have assumed the role of the dictator, the idea of which is out of harmony with our democracy."

A letter addressed to the Secretary of State, Austin, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, dated January 26, 1946. Carswell advises that he would like to apply for a charter under one of the following names requesting they indicate which ones are open for use: Texas Automobile Association, Texas Auto Association, Texas Automobile Club, Texas Auto Club, Texas Motor Club.

A letter written to Mr. Tommie Carswell, Abilene, Texas from Jeff Davis, Pastor, First Baptist Church, Hallsville, Texas dated June 26, 1945. Davis expresses his appreciation to Carswell for the information contained in his letter; he compares Carswell's resolutions regarding "the work" to his own in 1935 and points out how those views compare with the current incumbent and Dr. McConnell. He then describes the work required by him "to get things in shape for some one else to carry the work on".

The minutes of the May 26, 1945 meeting of The Greater Hardin-Simmons Committee. Judge J. C. Hunter served as President. Page two includes additional minutes of the Executive Committee which met on May 28, 1945. Hunter called the meeting to order. "He explained that the purpose of the meeting was to talk about the proposed plans for expansion of Hardin-Simmons University." Executive Committee members met afterwards regarding the contract drawn up by Mr. Carlton M. Sherwood, Executive Vice-President of Pierce, Hedrick and Sherwood and was read by Dr. R. N. Richardson.

Radford.] The reverse side includes a note from "Mother" [Byrdie Carswell] dated March 4. Byrdie advises that this card was forwarded to Carswell but was returned "torn and messed up", therefore, she is resending it in a new envelope.

Moody expresses his enjoyment of Carswell's well prepared, well rendered and timely speech at the Division Convention.

A letter written to Legionnaire A. W. Cline, Com., Harry F. Edmondson Post 289, The American Legion, Goldthwaite, Texas, from Harry E. Rather, Department Adjutant, The American Legion, Austin, Texas, dated July 26, 1943. Copy to Thos. N. Carswell. Rather explains regarding the prizes won by Cline and his Post at Goldthwaite pertaining to the Legion membership drive and offers the congratulations of the Department of Texas for their success in growing their membership.

A Western Union telegram sent to Hon. Tom Connally, U.S. Senate, Washington, D. C., from T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, dated February 26, 1943. Carswell advises of the concern of parents of soldiers already dead and of sons now in the fighting zones, that they are understandably critical of a national do-nothing policy about strikes, slow downs and absenteeism and are asking if the Congress cannot act courageously and effectively when the very life of the nation is threatened, as it now is. The reverse side includes Western Union terms. "Hon. Sam Russell House of Rep Wash. D. C." is handwritten at the bottom of the page.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Jeff Davis, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys, dated January 26, 1943. Davis describes a "hotel mixup" including the Grace Hotel, the Wooten Hotel, the Hilton Hotel and a Tourist Court when he was in Abilene and expresses his dismay at forgeting the proposed meeting with Carswell. He advises that they are sponsoring an anti-advertising bill which is being scouted by Senator George Moffett, that Representative John Connally has introduced a ten-mile bill like the one passed in 1918 that dried up the State and that they plan to get behind the Governor's curfew bill. Davis expresses the need for more Field Days assuring that the events will be more fruitful than in the past.

A postcard addressed to Mr. Tom Carswell, c/o Draft Board, postmarked Floydada, Texas, dated November 26, 1942. The reverse side includes corrrespondence to Tommie from J. M. Willson dated November 26, 1942. Willson advises of his concern regarding the low membership and requests that Carswell check on and send a personal card to the Posts assuring Carswell that he will write to the Posts, also. He requests any other suggestions Carswell might think of and advises that he has not received a report as of late.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Hugh R. Bumpas, Pastor, Tabernacle Baptist Church, Ennis, Texas, dated September 26, 1942. Bumpas informs Carswell of an enclosed copy of a resolution which passed unanimously at the annual meeting of the Ellis County Baptist Association. The resolution urges Baptist schools to include a required course of study dealing with the effects of beverage alcohol.

Recommendation by Carswell of J. M. Willson of Floydada for the Department Membership Committee, George Berry of Lubbock for the Legislative Committee and W. R. Gilliam of Junction as Fifth Division Chairman.

A letter addressed to Col. Royden Williamson, Public Relations Officer, Eighth Corps Service Command, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, dated August 26, 1942. Carswell requests of Williamson that it be made possible for Lt. Col. Julian C. Hyer to be present for the main address at the dedication of the Parramore Post, American Legion building.
