Was wet, poorly drained timber land near worthless pasture before clearing and planting to midland Bermuda and clover. Planted to Bermuda 1957, 500 acres Ranch has 200 ac. on cultivation. 1959-ran 135 head grown cows and 500 sheep and offsprings [sic], uses vetch and clover for sown pasture. 10 on hill. 11 on bottom. 11 was cleared."

Photograph of a pine nursery located on Yashau Creek. The output of this nursery goes largely to cooperators in the Little River Soil Conservation District. The District plants seedlings for cooperators on contract at $0.75 per 100 trees. Approximately 300,000 trees in the District in 1956. Drought reduced the output of the nursery in 1956 by abour 50%. Miss Jesseye Arnett requested the Little River Soil Conservation District to help her to get cooperator signs which she posted around her plantation to discourage trespassers. Christmas tree hunters cut down many of the trees before the signs were installed. Approximately 7 years of growing time is lost with each tree stolen. OK-411-11.

Photograph of pasture with heavy timber in the background. The grassed area was timbered until 1956. 300 acres were cleared to midland bermuda and clover. 2000 acres make up the ranch. The cleared land after planting Bermuda grass increased the ranch's carrying capacity by 30 to 40%. OK-1050-7.
