This highway was also washed out in 1957. This excessive runoff water in Salt Fork is carrying many tons of silt which is a loss to everyone, city and rural people alike.”

This excessive runoff water in the Salt Fork is carrying away many tons of silt which is a loss for everyone, city and rural peoples alike. Salt Fork, normally a small steam, was nearly 1 mile wide at the time of the photo. Debris in the foreground is caught on a 4-foot high wire fence. Alva, OK is seen in the background. OK-621-4.
