A letter written to Nora Whiting from Byrdie Carswell, typed by T. N. Carswell, dated November 25, 1968. Byrdie recounts her life-long appreciation and love for Nora, her older sister; of Nora's and Milton's love for her continuing after they married; their continued love after she and Tommy married; their contribution to Peg "in love and lifelong direction that has enriched her life". She advises that she and Tommy were glad that Nora sounded better the last time they talked to her. Hand written postscript expresses gladness to have Peg come & see them - even for a day.

A form letter addressed to Mr. Chas. A. Guy, Editor, Avalanche, Lubbock, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, American Legion Committee on Americanism, dated November 25, 1941. The letter contains the promotion of a "What is Americanism?" campaign. The campaign is defined as "seeking more light in the form of a contribution", the contribution being the answer to the question, "What is Americanism?". The answer will then be used "to help stimulate an Americanism Revival comparable in results to the periods of the Revolution, the Making of the Constitution, and the Civil War" stressing that the country's destiny depends on these answers. Postscript: "We suggest: A Patrick Henry Day observance in every community and school in the U.S.A."

A letter written to Hon. Brooks Hays, Assistant Secretary of State, Washington, D. C. from T. N. Carswell, dated November 25, 1961. Carswell advises of his privilege to have heard both of the addresses given by Hays during his visit to Abilene and requests a copy of the poem, written by an Australian World War II pilot, that he used at the Hardin-Simmons University address.

A letter written to "Mother" [Byrdie Carswell] from "Daddy" [T. N. Carswell], dated January 25, 1932. Carswell advises that he has arrived home on the Sunshine Special after a trip to Dallas, expresses his concern for his daughter, Peggy, having been ill, advises that he has changed his travel plans to Austin because of the rain and notes that he had a pleasant time in Hamlin.

A letter written to Dr. J. D. Magee, Abilene, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, dated June 25, 1956. Carswell advises Magee of his displeasure noting he had fully intended to see him again about his eyes. "This is not the first time I have bought and paid for some experience".

A letter written to Mr. Cape, Ideals Publishing Co., Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from T. N. Carswell, dated September 25, 1967. Carswell advises of an enclosed check for an order of 10 subscriptions and asks that they refer to their letter of December 20, 1966 for clarity on his order acknowledging that he is beginning to show, and at times feel, his age noting he will be eighty next month.

A letter written to Reverend Jeff Davis, Dallas, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, dated May 25, 1942. Carswell confirms that Davis should be at the Abilene Field Day on June 14. He lists the names of pastors and their congregations that have signed up and suggests that Davis send to them copies of the Crusader with a preparatory message. Denominations represented include Baptist, First Christian, Methodist, and Presbyterian.

A letter written to Dr. Jeff Davis, Texas United Drys, from T. N. Carswell, dated November 25, 1941. Carswell advises of an enclosed check to cover their part for the special attorney and makes inquiry regarding the case and the status of the submission blanks.

A letter written to Hon. Milt Phillips, Dept. Adjutant, The American Legion, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, from T. N. Carswell, dated May 25, 1942. Carswell replies to a request for information regarding J. W. Reid and his brother. He advises that they practice law in Abilene, the brother is already in the Marine Corp and that, in the opinion of two good lawyers with whom Carswell talked, "J. W. Reid means well and does right".

A letter addressed to Miss Janice Fogle and Mr. Ronnie Fogle from T. N. Carswell ,dated November 25, 1967. Carswell expresses his appreciation for their friendship and for the coconut cake assuring them that Mrs. Carswell and he enjoyed it. He advises of his friendship with their parents and grandparents, offers a bit of philosophy and wisdom and then wishes happiness and success for "big sister" and them and a Merry Christmas.

A letter written to a parolee/inmate in Stillwater, Minnesota, from T. N. Carswell, Chairman, Taylor County Parole Board, dated January 25, 1954. Carswell reminds Subject 108,345 of his crime history and explains that the $125 from Mrs. Breeding payed off the two checks he cashed at B & B Food Store and J. C. Penney Company resulting in the District Attorney agreeing not to prosecute. Carswell continues explaining that an attorney would have charged $100 but he did it without charge yet Mrs. Breeding is demanding that he return the money, therefore, he suggests that Subject hire a lawyer.

A letter written to Representative Graham A. Barden, House of Representatives, Washington, D. C., from T. N. Carswell, dated June 25, 1959. Carswell advises that he is enclosing a ballot explaining points that should be covered affirmatively in the Labor Bill. He advises that Burleson had written to him that he is of the opinion that the bill will contain most of the recommendations of the McClellan Senate Committee and perhaps contain some things not covered in the McClellan Amendments. Carswell advises that big business and big labor must be amenable to law or the public will suffer. He also expresses his hope that the Senate will not add amendments to the Smith Act which was passed by the House and that the Congress will eliminate the incompetence and waste in the distribution of Foreign Aid funds.

A letter written to Omar Burleson, House of Representatives, Washington, D. C., from T. N. Carswell, dated June 25, 1959. Carswell expresses his hope that Burleson will get the measures passed which he has marked on an enclosed ballot that was published in the Reporter News. He advises of his support of the bill sponsored by Representative Smith of Virginia to curb the power of the Supreme Court as to strictly state matters and repudiates the foreign aid policy describing the administration of it as "shot through with incompetence". He requests to be sent a copy of the record for the last session and to be put on Burleson's list to receive a copy of the Congressional Record.

He advises of his approval of Omar's recent political, written "releases". A note handwritten by Carswell states that the tickets are for personal use, not for resale. The reverse side includes business letterhead of Little Tuffy Mfg. Co. A Division of Abilene Machine Co., 1342 Pine Street, Abilene, Texas and bears Assurance Opaque Parchment watermark.

A letter written to Senator Herman E. Talmadge, United States Senate, from T. N. Carswell, dated June 25, 1959. Carswell explains that he is a native of Georgia and because of vital matters now pending in Congress he is writing Talmadge for his support of the new Labor Bill and the Smith bill, and advises that Foreign Aid should be eliminated or at least drastically cut.

A letter written to Senator John L. McClellan, United States Senate, from T. N. Carswell, dated June 25, 1959. Carswell expresses his appreciation to McClellan for the work done by the Select Committee to Investigate Improper Activities in Labor-Management Relations and advises that he has enclosed a ballot clipped from the local newspaper indicating points that should be covered by the new Labor Bill.
