Patent for a new and improved bedstead. This design consists of a frame with tension wires "extending diagonally across the bed-frame to the side pieces thereof at points intermediate between the corner posts, and independent tension devices to which the ends of the wire are connected, whereby a longitudinal and lateral strain is exerted upon the bed-frame when the wires are adjusted" (lines 1-7).

Patent for Bailing Press including illustrations. The purpose of the bailing press was to improve "the bailing-press especially adapted for bailing cotton, which press is simple in construction, strong and durable, and operates rapidly" ( lines 9-12).

Patent for a new and improved ant trap. This design consists "[i]n an ant-trap, the combination, with a trough formed with a top [that is] flanged . . . of a box connected thereto by a tube terminating in a disk . . . [and] of the connecting-tubes, box, and fence" (lines 62-68).

Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design consists in "[a] car-coupling constructed with a draw-head having a vertically-ranging and inwardly-tapering link-socket and a horizontal hole to receive the coupling pin, in combination with a coupling-link tapering from the middle toward the end . . . [and] . . . crossing the socket, and a coupling-pin adapted to said hole and to the coupling-link, and connected to [two] lever[s] [and a] link . . . and [one of] said lever[s] extending to the side of the car" (lines 39-52).

Patent for a new and improved combined chimney and ventilator. This design consists "[i]n a combined ventilator and smoke-flue, a series of pipes or flues having a sectional inclosing casing extending from the ceiling of a room and adapted to receive a stove-pipe, the lower drum or casing being provided with a series of openings, and having an annular flange, the top casing being located without the building, having its lower end within the space between the roof and ceiling, and braces, said upper casing having a downwardly-extending flange at its lower end" (lines 18-28).

Patent for a new and improved churn. This design "relates to improvements in rotary churns; and it consists in the combination of the dasher-staff made screw-threaded at its upper end, and having a dasher secured to its lower one; a pinion which is applied to the screw-threaded part of the shaft, and which has a rising and falling movement thereon; the driving-wheel which operates the two pinions, and through them the two dashers, and the sleeve, which is connected to the lower pinion and one of the dashers" (lines 13-23).

Patent for a new and improved ejector for baling presses. This design "consists in the combination, with a baling-press follower having channels with inclines and recesses at their rear ends, of trucks provided with ropes or chains, pulleys, pulley-segments having arms, and stationary arms for drawing the trucks forward, and with ropes or chains, pulleys, and weights for drawing the truck rearward. The trucks have recesses with inclined shoulders in their sides to receive prongs having front and rear shoulders, and attached to pins pivoted to the said trucks" (lines 29-40).

Patent for an insecticide to kill red ants and "other noxious insects" (line 9).

Patent for a new and improved windmill. This design consists in "the sectional spiral vanes of the wind-wheel, having a flange on the outer edge, widest at the end of the vane on which the wind first takes effect, and inclined to the plane of the vane for deflecting the wind thereon . . . [and] [t]he brake, having guide-pulley and combined with the pull-cord, tail-vane, and the wheel-shaft, said shaft having a friction-wheel" (lines 13-22).

Patent for a new and improved ventilating chimney. This design consists in "the combination, with the smoke-flue, of the ventilating-flue, the thimble provided with outwardly-projecting lugs and inwardly-projecting apertured lugs, the plate provided with a central aperture and with a flange having notches, and the screws passed through the plate into the apertured lugs" (lines 16-23).

Patent for a mold to be used in the construction of concrete walls, including illustrations and instructions.

Patent for a new and improved motor. This design "relates to a mechanical power adapted to operate a churn, saw, and for other light work, and it has for its object to provide a device of this character which shall be cheap and simple in its construction effective in its operation, and one that will be strong and durable" (lines 9-15).

Patent for a new and improved oil tank. This design "relates to improvements in oil-tanks, and has for its object to prevent the waste of oil when emptying the can or vessel in which it is received from the factory, and to avoid the odor arising from the oil, and also to prevent evaporation after the oil has been introduced into the tank" (lines 9-15).

Patent for a new and improved hat and towel holder. This design is "compris[ed of] a base-piece . . . having arms and a cylinder cast in one piece therewith, the arms and cylinder being arranged in a horizontal position near each end of the base-plate, and connected together at their outer ends by the vertical arm, and a plunger provided with the finger-piece having a coiled spring arranged in said cylinder, and adapted to bear against the base-plate to provide a support for the coat or towel" (lines 7-17).

Patent for a new and improved gate latch. This design consists "[i]n a gate-catch, the combination, with the gate and post of a cylinder having perforated lugs and removable heads, a locking-bolt, working in the cylinder and projecting above the plane of the gate, the said rod having a reduced portion or shoulder, a squared portion, and a right-angled locking foot, a spring arranged in the cylinder and secured at one end to the locking-bolt, and a horizontal catch-plate having beveled side edges and perforated lugs for securing the plate to the post" (lines 63-73).

Patent for improvements in farm gates, with description of parts and use and illustrations.

Patent for a new and improved running gear for wagons. This design "consists, primarily, in an axle provided with a spring attachment or cushion-brace or strain-distributer of sufficient strength connected to the axle, either directly or through the skein, to counteract the strain caused by the super-incumbent weight or by any violence to which the axle may be subjected" (lines 24-31).

Patent for a new and improved signal valve for boilers. This design "consists in the combination, with a check-valve, of the ordinary construction, which is adapted to operate in connection with an inspirator, injector, or jet-pump, such as are commonly employed for feeding steam-boilers, of a signal-valve which is located above the check-valve, and which signal-valve, when the check-valve ceases to operate, is caused to open by the backward pressure of the steam from the boiler, permitting the escape of said steam, and thereby indicating that the feeder is not operating" (lines 14-26).

Patent for a new and improved feeding chute for stoves. This design "is to provide the chute with a pivoted latch or other like device that will securely hold the door closed, the device operating automatically in locking the door closed. A further object of the invention is to provide a pivoted chute with a swinging door, so that the two will act conjointly with each other" (lines 36-43).

Patent for a new and improved calculator. This design "consists in having a central disk provided on each side with a disk somewhat smaller, the three being pivoted centrally, so that the smaller disks on the sides may be rotated independently of the central disk. The central disk has twelve or more marginal figures on each side, equidistant from each other, and a column of figures extending inwardly from each marginal figure" (lines 19-27).
