A handwritten note on the back reads: "On same date and time noted on reverse, Assistant Chief T. A. Hutson handed the original negative mug shot to Chief D. A. Byrd who in turn gave it to Mr. Jack Moriarty and Mr. Harold A. Rose of the House Select Committee. The negative was a load and was to be returned to this department upon completion of their investigation."
