Southwest desert vista. There is no information provided for the location from where this image was captured. A solid rock mountain face encompasses most of the foreground in this photographic desert scene. In the center of this image, there is a small lake or some ponding water. A lone tree is clearly visible in the middle of this small body of water. And in the background, an unidentified mountain. Right center of the image there are two men facing the camera. One man is standing and the other man is sitting on a large rock. The man who is standing is wearing a light colored shirt and the man who is sitting is wearing a dark colored shirt. Both men are wearing hats. This postcard was mailed to Miss G.M. Horne in Portland, Main. The postcard message reads: Had quite an excitement here for a few days but it quieted down as soon as the U.S. Troops took a hand. Very hot here. Hope you are ok. The fight livened my business up in good shape. The postcard is post marked June 24, 1918, El Paso.

Ormsly in Keyport, New Jersey and says "Dear Mama, Traveling over the worst roads I ever saw. In fact they are no roads half the time, have only 1-- miles of good roads to go now to D. Love Donn."

There are two horse-drawn fire wagons on either side of the picture, the one on the left is loaded with ladders and the one on the right appears to have a steamer engine in the back of it. There are also six firemen photographed, two are seated on either wagon while the other four are standing in between the two wagons.

Icicles are visible on the side of the city hall and part of a smaller neighboring building on its left. People in brown coats are visible in the street, and long hoses are running along the ground. On the back of the postcard, a handwritten message says, "Excuse delay - but I have been unable to find any fire department cards. This was the nearest I could come to it. Would be pleased to send you other kinds of card views - buildings, etc. if you wish. Many thanks for card sent - Edna Griffin."

Postcard from H. Lora in Houston, Texas to Leta Ball in Waco, Texas,. Lora writes about positive experiences with the "folks" and passes on regards to Leta. The front of the postcard depicts an open gated entrance into Courtlandt Place, an upscale suburban neighborhood with stone walls along the sides of the neighborhood and gas lamps atop the walls' pillars. Large two-story suburban homes are visible along the paved boulevard. The caption reads "Entrance to Courtland [sic], exclusive residential district, Houston, Texas."
