Ordering-mediated local nano-clustering results in unusually large Hall-Petch strengthening coefficients in high entropy alloys (open access)

Ordering-mediated local nano-clustering results in unusually large Hall-Petch strengthening coefficients in high entropy alloys

This article reports a dramatic increase in the grain boundary strengthening or Hall-Petch coefficient, K, by systematically investigating the effect of Al addition on tensile yield strength in CoFeNi and CoCrFeNi high entropy alloys (HEAs) or complex concentrated alloys (CCAs). Such a trend is attributed to the ordering mediated nano-clustering in Al containing HEA/CCAs.

Artificially structured boundary for confinement of effectively unmagnetized cryogenic antimatter plasmas (open access)

Artificially structured boundary for confinement of effectively unmagnetized cryogenic antimatter plasmas

The article is from conference proceedings that discuss an artificially structured boundary (ABS) considered to consist of a spatially periodic arrangement of electrostatically plugged magnetic cusps. As envisioned, a non-neutral positron plasma could be confined by an ASB along its edge, and the space charge of the positron plasma would serve to confine an antiproton plasma. If the conditions of the two-species plasma are suitable, production of antihydrogen via three-body recombination for antimatter gravity studies may be possible.

Triarchic or Septarchic? - Uncovering the Triarchic Psychopathy Measure’s (TriPM) Structure

This article describes a study conducted to test the structure of the Triarchic Psychopathy Measure (TriPM) via exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. Findings suggest that the three original TriPM factors do not optimally represent the conceptual model underlying the TriPM.

Changes in Deep Soil Water Content in the Process of Large-Scale Apple Tree Planting on the Loess Tableland of China

This article evaluates the effects of orchard development on deep soil water content (SWC) by using a meta-analysis of 162 sampling sites on the loess tableland from 44 peer-reviewed publications. The results showed that the deep SWC in orchards depended on stand age, planting density and annual precipitation.
