Herbert, Major, Inspector Designate, 27th Battalion of the Texas Defense Guard, Fort Worth, Texas, dated May 23, 1941. Herbert acknowledges the receipt of the letter from Carswell, advises of enclosed copies of letters addressed to Captain George L. McCargo and Captain Hazen P. Slagel and requests that Carswell notify Captain Jessie Warren and Captain Roscoe Blankenship in order to request the completion of their paperwork by the 27th. He describes the inspection of the paper work as quite a job and discusses his travel plans expressing his appreciation for accomodations having been arranged for both Mr. Winters and himself.
