Landrum conceeds that it is true there are underlying causes for criminality in Dallas suggesting one cause is "our modern church has lost its appeal" but defends his column citing that Dallas is understaffed in its police and sheriff forces.

Willson advises Carswell of the reason he has never run for any office is that he did not approve of the tactics used in elections. He advises Carswell that he is very much in favor of Henry Love being elected to the office.
