Adherence to Exercise Programs in Older Adults: Informative Report (open access)

Adherence to Exercise Programs in Older Adults: Informative Report

This article focuses on filling information gaps regarding adherence to physical activity and exercise in the health care spectrum of older adults (OA) and an overview of the benefits of physical activity for OA. Exercise adherence in OA is a multifactorial problem encompassing many biopsychosocial factors. Factors affecting adherence in the OA include socioeconomic status, education level, living arrangements, health status, pacemakers, physical fitness, and depression. Improving adherence could have a significant impact on longevity, quality of life, and health care costs.

Electrical and Thermal Conductivity of Polylactic Acid (PLA)-Based Biocomposites by Incorporation of Nano-Graphite Fabricated with Fused Deposition Modeling (open access)

Electrical and Thermal Conductivity of Polylactic Acid (PLA)-Based Biocomposites by Incorporation of Nano-Graphite Fabricated with Fused Deposition Modeling

This article describes a study to improve the electrical and thermal conductivity of the polylactic acid/wood flour/thermoplastic polyurethane composites by Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM). The results showed that, when the addition amount of nano-graphite reached 25 pbw, the volume resistivity of the composites decreased to 10⁸ Ω·m, which was a significant reduction, indicating that the conductive network was already formed. It also had good thermal conductivity, mechanical properties, and thermal stability.

Hidden Gems: A Partnership Between the Digitization Lab and Photography Studio Art at UNT

Poster presented at the 2019 Texas Conference on Digital Libraries (TCDL-2019). This poster discusses how inter-departmental partnerships, particularly between UNT's Digital Libraries and Department of Photography and Studio Art can provide a win win collaborative environment for all parties involved. While the Digital Projects Lab can hire experienced photographers to operate and oversee its capturing system, as the same time MFA students can gain high level photography experiences in a real world project outside of the College of Visual Arts and Design which would help them diversify their skillset.
