Lloyd expresses her appreciation to Carswell for his kind and thoughtful letter noting that Claude would have liked it. She advises that Carswell was one of Claude's dearest friends, that his illness was brief and that she was proud and happy to have been part of "this wonderful person's life" and no one need be sorry for her.

Carswell restates to Johnson, as per their telephone conversation, that he is enclosing a condensed financial statement of Abilene and, also, a newspaper account of a meeting the night before. Carswell advises of the approximate bond valuations, the option of a utilities rate increase and his assurance that if Johnson decides not to try for the refunding proposition that he will be glad to pay for his counsel and advice.

Daniel expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell dated July 16, 1953 in support of the request of the Postmaster General to increase postage rates in order to lower the deficit of the Post Office Department and advises that he will keep Carswell's view in mind in his work on the Senate Post Office and Civil Service Committee.

Alvis confirms that the Training Schedule for the Headquarters Detachment is the same basic training as for the Rifle Company except that it includes an additional specialized training under the supervision of the medical officers, S-2 and S-4.

He provides examples of how the items that are needed to complete a uniform can be purchased frugally.

Latimer expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell regarding the Pool bill and Senate Bill 154 and for the confidence and support Carswell has given to him during the years he has been a member of the Legislature.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Wyatt W. Lipscomb, Albany, Texas, dated November 22, 1942. Lipscomb advises of the enclosed clipping from one of their two local newspapers of an article written by himself relative to the proper consideration of Armistice. He complains that the other newspaper destroyed the intent of the article by leaving out the last paragraph. Lipscomb extends an invitation to Carswell and to his wife to attend an event to be held at their Legion Hall adding that he hopes his gasoline will not be too limited for the trip.
