A check list to accompany numbered inspection letters. This form provides a checklist for inspectors indicating the forms to be forwarded to the Adjutant General's Department upon completion of the inspection of each unit.

Minutes from the membership committee meeting which met for the purpose of working out plans for a concerted membership drive. An outline of the details regarding the membership drive is concluded with a wartime pitch, "Now is your chance to receive a commission without Political pull. We have a job to do; the American Legion stands first, for God and Country, and we must stand strongly, for those principles for which we fought in 1917-1918".

Gilliland explains that he read the article written by Edward Meeman in which was answered the question regarding Americanism, and though Carswell did not address his inquiry "What is Americanism?" to him, he could not resist this opportunity to reply. The envelope into which the letter was placed is also included in the record.

Subject 108,345 asks after Carswell then describes the hot weather, that he is not much of a cotton picker but that he is improving every day and that he hopes to get on construction after cotton picking. He advises Carswell of a job opportunity that he received from his cousin in Austin. The envelope into which the letter was placed is also included in the record.
