Firemen, their clothing and gear coated with ice, battled the blaze in 8-degree temperature and for a time were endangered when fire burned electrical transformers and high power lines at the rear of the building...Fire Chief G. R. McAlpine said the supermarket, a 40 by 180-foot building, was engulfed by flames when firemen arrived at the scene at 5:45 a.m. - but they were successful in preventing the blaze from spreading to the adjoining T.
