Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Here's What Drouth, worse in Oklahoma than the black years of 1936, has done to Lake Overholser, smaller of Oklahoma City's municipal water reservoirs. This aerial view looks toward NW 39 showing the bare mud flats which normally are covered with water. The dotted line indicates the normal level of the lake. Sixteen years ago this was the city's only source of water. The lake nearly dried up that year, too, but a gully-washing August rain saved the day, No so this year and the deadline for heavy autumn rains is nearly past. Water department officials estimate there is only about 5,00 acre feet of water remaing in Overholser. Much bigger Lake Hefner still estimates several month's supply but its shoreline is receding too."
