Caption: "That huge building spreading all over the map just east of I-35 and near NE 23 is the new $3,360,00 service center for the Oklahoma City Board of Education. Dr. Wallace Smith, director of building and grounds, said the board hopes to occupy the 233,600-square-foot building by Christmas, consoilidating activities now scattered all over the city. An esitamated 220 employees will be housed in the new quarters, with the lower floor devoted to warehouse space for supplies and school equipment. The second level will be for maintenance and supply officies. The upper floor will be for maintenance shops. Dr. Smith pointed out that the center will house instructional materials, including tapes, books and other supplies, and the food service divison. the building was designed by Hudgins-Thompson-Ball and Associates, and is being constructed by Walter Nashert & Sons. The building rising here is the 233,600-square-foot service center for the Oklahoma City Board of Education."
