He advises of the generosity of her grandparents as to the reason he received his college degree and her Dad, whom he met and loved, was also a benefactor of Simmons. Carswell advises that conditions are quite different out at Simmons, that he is no longer a trustee having resigned some years earlier after Dr. Richardson resigned as president. He requests that she take the attached check and go to a show and dinner "for the sake of old lang syne".

A letter addressed to the State Department of Health, Bureau of Vital Statistics, Austin, Texas from T. N. Carswell, dated February 21, 1963. Carswell requests three copies of the death certificate of Arthur Robert Ross who died January 17, 1926 to be sent to Edna R. Johnson of Pecos, Texas. He advises of an attached check to cover costs and that Senator Bullock, Senator Ratliff or Representative Raleigh Brown will vouch for him. The reverse side includes business letterhead of Little Tuffy Mfg. Co. A Division of Abilene Machine Co., 1342 Pine Street, Abilene, Texas and bears Assurance Opaque Parchment watermark.

A letter written to Brother "Dick" [Dr. P. D. O'Brien], Pastor, First Baptist Church, Big Spring, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, dated July 21, 1961. Carswell expresses his appreciation for the service he and Mrs. O'Brien rendered in witnessing Mrs. Carswell's signature to her will requesting that he use the enclosed check for the enlargement plans of their Church.

A letter addressed to Mr. & Mrs. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from "Jake" [J. D. Sandefer, Jr.], Breckenridge, Texas, dated March 21, 1951. Sandefer issues an invitation to attend the annual sunrise service Easter morning including breakfast at the Wooten Hotel. He notes that each year they discuss discontinuing the annual get-together, yet, continue.

A letter addressed to Major T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from Fred C. Smith, Moran, Texas, dated April 21, 1941. Smith advises Carswell that he and several of the men will attend the Albany Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet and wanted to avoid being absent for inspection if it was planned for the same evening. He expresses his appreciation for the courtesy shown to them by Carswell and the other officers and by the Chamber of Commerce.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from A. S. E. Carr, Secretary to Senator Tom Connally, dated June 21, 1946. Carr acknowledges the receipt of the letter from Carswell after Senator Connally had left to attend the Council of Foreign Ministers with Secretary of State Byrnes. Carr advises Carswell that the President extended an interview to Dr. L. D. Newton and other members of the Southern Baptist Convention and advised them that the appointment of Mr. Myron Taylor is a temporary one, his services only needed until the peace treaty is signed with Italy.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Joe C. Humphrey, The State of Texas House of Representatives, Austin, dated March 21, 1945. Humphrey acknowledges his receipt of the letter from Carswell and stresses that he wished more people would let him know their wishes and view points about pending legislation. He discusses the redistricting of the state noting the fine work Harley Sadler did along that line advising of the unlikely event of a constitutional convention then discourses on rewriting only the portions of the constitution which are largely statutory.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Charlie Maisel, Phillips, Texas, dated September 29, 1941. Phillips announces that his hat is in the ring to succeed Andy Dillworth as Dept. Commander noting that Carswell's council and advice and able assistance would be appreciated by him in this campaign.

A Western Union telegram sent to the Honorable Sam Russell, Congressman Elect, 17th District, Washington, D. C., from T. N. Carswell, Commander Parramore Post, Abilene, Texas, dated October 21, 1940. Carswell issues an invitation to Russell to address the Armistice Day special program honoring National Guard "called to Colors" and the men recently registered for defense training noting his speaking as a splendid opportunity for both him and them.

A letter written to Senator Price Daniel, United States Senator, Liberty, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, dated October 21, 1955. Carswell advises of the attempt made to have a special meeting with Daniel but that the tight schedule for the visit to Abilene on November 3rd forced them to abandon the plan.

A letter written to Judge James P. McGranery, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from T. N. Carswell, dated February 21, 1953. Carswell advises McGranery that he had written to Chairman McCarran and to both Texas Senators in opposition to his confirmation but decided that after McGranery began his duties he felt he had misinterpreted his "calibre as a man and official". He expresses his appreciation for what McGranery did for the country.

Stephens to assist him in the inspection of the Albany Company. Carswell advises Herbert of accomodations that have been made at the Hilton Hotel.

Carswell, Major, 10th Battalion, Texas Defense Guard, dated May 21, 1941. Carswell advises Knickerbocker of his inspection plans adding, in a postscript, that he will also inspect Battalion Hdqrs. Staff on June 2, if convenient.

A letter written to Major T. N. Carswell, Commander 10th Bn., Texas Defense Guard, Abilene, Texas, from C. A. Dawson, Major 17th Battalion, Texas Defense Guard, Throckmorton, Texas, dated April 21, 1941. Dawson expresses his appreciation for the address given by Carswell deeming it a great help in the organization of the unit at Throckmorton. He requests guidance regarding purchasing uniforms and advises regarding some funding that has been promised for their unit.

Carswell notes the Appropriations Bill passed amounting to more than two billion dollars and suggests the taxing of new items or fields not now taxed. He restates his opinion of the need of a joint committee to study the whole tax system.
