Factor Structure and Construct Validity of the Proposed Specifiers for Conduct Disorder (PSCD) Scale in Chinese Adolescents
Article examining the psychometric properties of the self-report version of Proposed Specifiers for Conduct Disorder (PSCD) Scale in a sample of community adolescents in mainland China. Findings provide preliminary evidence for the four-factor structure of the PSCD and support for the utility of the self-report PSCD for measuring psychopathic traits and CD in Chinese adolescents.

Bot-teachers in hybrid massive open online courses (MOOCs): A post-humanist experience
This article explores networked learning technologies and the development of Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs). The study examines and explains hybrid MOOCs and focuses on the use of bot-teachers within a post-humanist perspective. The research findings reveal that, while the use of bot-teachers is beneficial in terms of facilitating and increasing discourse/interaction, it is ineffective in providing other components of teaching presence. Yet ultimately, learners' positive behaviors indicate that bot-teachers hold promise as an educational tool.

Biocultural Calendars Across Four Ethnolinguistic Communities in Southwestern South America
Article describes how, since the mid-20th century, the so-called Great Acceleration has amplified processes of ecosystem degradation, extinction of biological species, displacement of local peoples, losses of languages, and cultural diversity. The authors examine cultural practices and socio-environmental changes across four contrasting ethnolinguistic communities in southwestern South America, from southern to northern Chile along a marked climatic gradient to show the broad application of the concept of biocultural calendars.

Survival rates in the world's southernmost forest bird community
Article asserts that the Magellanic sub-Antarctic Forest is home to the world's southernmost avian community and is the only Southern Hemisphere analogue to Northern Hemisphere temperate forests at this latitude. Authors describe annual survival patterns and their association with climate variables using a 20-year mark–recapture data set of five forest bird species in the Cape Horn Biosphere Reserve.

Fiberboard Made from Scrap Denim: Characterization of its Properties by Effective Bulk Modulus Elastography
Article describes how fiberboards from scrap denim were fabricated using two different resins, melamine urea formaldehyde (MUF) and polymeric methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (pMDI). Resin content and MUF-pMDI weight ratio were studied. Physical and mechanical tests determined the modulus of elasticity (MOE), modulus of rupture (MOR), internal bond (IB), thickness swell (TS), and water absorption (WA).

Whole-genome survey reveals extensive variation in genetic diversity and inbreeding levels among peregrine falcon subspecies
Article describes how, in efforts to prevent extinction, resource managers are often tasked with increasing genetic diversity in a population of concern to prevent inbreeding depression or improve adaptive potential in a changing environment. The authors used whole-genome resequencing to generate over two million single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) from multiple individuals of all peregrine falcon subspecies.

Analysis of Pectin-derived Monosaccharides from Arabidopsis Using GC–MS
Article describes how pectin is a complex polysaccharide present in the plant cell wall, whose composition is constantly remodeled to adapt to environmental or developmental changes. Here, authors describe a quick and efficient gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS)-based method that allows the differential analysis of pectin monosaccharide composition in plants under different conditions or between mutant plants and their respective wild types.

Population-based analysis of POT1 variants in a cutaneous melanoma case–control cohort
Article describes how pathogenic germline variants in the protection of telomeres 1 gene (POT1) have been associated with predisposition to a range of tumor types, including melanoma, glioma, leukemia and cardiac angiosarcoma. The authors sequenced all coding exons of the POT1 gene in 2928 European-descent melanoma cases and 3298 controls, identifying 43 protein-changing genetic variants.
