Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "A total flow of 51,000 acre feet of water - enough to fill Lake Overholser and raise Lake Hefner to within 8,000 acre feet of full - was promised Oklahoma City Friday as government river watchers raised their estimates as to the size of crests moving down the North Canadian. M. B. Cunningham, city water superintendent, announced the increasingly optimistic results of a new study at river conditions a few hours after city councilmen agreed to immediate removal of all water bans, except the restriction on lawn sprinkling, which still stands. "The river report figures still are not complete. The 51,000 acre feet estimate was hurriedly compiled. We are very hopeful that a more detailed analysis and unreported rains will increase the amount to where we can expect the lakes to be completely filled," he said. First 'Full' Estimate This was the first time city officials have admitted the possiblity the two lakes, which were short 59,000 acres feet of water before runoff from the rains below Canton dam began pouring into the lakes early Friday night be completely filled."
