Photocopy of a letter from Jack Davis and Bill McCarter, co-directors of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Gene Davenport, Superintendent of Allen Independent School District. In regards to the U.S. Department of Education efforts in the arts and that Secretary Alexander has initiated the American 2000 Arts Partnership, along with the news that USOE and the National Endowment are funding the development of World Class standards for arts education. Davis and McCarter also write that they are pleased that the Getty Center for Education in the Arts has sent, to Allen's school board president, a package of materials related to enhancing student achievements through art education. Included with the packet is a questionnaire which asks for a report of any action the board has taken in response to the guide to enhancing student achievements.

Jones hopes that Reynolds can clear up the misunderstanding Andrews is addressing in her e-mail. Andrews suggests that the key note speaker of the TAEA conference, Texas Arts Education Association, wants to dismantle the arts education in the Austin Independent School District and would like the Getty Center to clarify these intentions.

Reminding them of the meeting at the Multicultural Seminar at the Dallas Museum of Art February 29th, and asks of them to bring their school's work in the NTIEVA Educational Exhibit. If the specialists are unable to make it that day to call the NTIEVA office to make arrangements for them to acquire their work. The rest of the letter goes into details about Brent Wilson, the Getty's evaluator for NTIEVA having interest in visiting Denton and Pilot Point schools, Reynolds writes that she'll be in contact with further details soon.

Photocopy of a memorandum from Jack Davis, co-director of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts to Will May, Ralph Culp, Jan Newcomer, and Rick Sale. In the memo, Davis attached the grant proposal and thanks them for their assistance. In his handwritten note, "P.S. I thought you'd be interested in the untouched letter for Richard Colwell which I received today." Included with the memo is the letter from Richard Colwell, Professor of Music at West California. The letter mentions that the National Center for Research in Arts Education is over and has some ideas for a cooperative plan and would like Davis to share with him their proposal to look over the institution and incorporate similar ideas.
