Sánchez of the University of Texas in Austin, Texas, dated April 19, 1951. Okrand is seeking a reference for a Texas attorney who would look into a matter concerning a "Negro property owner" in east Texas. There is a handwritten note from Professor Sanchez to John J. Letter from John J. Herrera to the Honorable J.C. Machuca describing in detail the accomplishments of his trip to Washington, "The exclusion of our people from serving on petit, grand juries and as grand jury commissioners goes to the very fundamentals that we, of LULAC hold dear [...] The case was argued [...] we were very well received [...] This is the first time in the history of our people that a case involving the civil rights of Latin Americans has been heard by the Supreme Court of the United States."

Attachment to a letter from John J. Herrera to the Honorable J.C. Machuca where at the request of Machuca, Herrera summarizes his accomplishments as National President of LULAC. This attachment includes mention of the increase in the expansion of the organization as well as council formation, widespread increase in LULAC awareness, LULAC's involvement with the fight against the Pecos Texas School segregation and collaboration with other Latin American organizations.
