[Letter from Representative George Mahon to T. N. Carswell - May 19, 1951]

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from George Mahon, House of Representatives, Washington, D. C., dated May 19, 1951. Mahon discourses on the reasons he will not run for the Senate advising that he is speaking in confidence between Carswell and himself. He confides that Senator Connally, he thinks, is as fed up with Acheson and "mink coat deals and deep freeze deals" as are he and Carswell. "Since Acheson made that Alger Hiss statement he has been utterly devoid of any usefulness as Secretary of State."
