[Riddled with Bullets, Juarez, Mexico]
Postcard of a destroyed building in Juarez, Mexico during the Mexican Revolution, viewed from the street. There are bullet holes on all sides of the exterior, all of the windows have been destroyed, the roof no longer exists, and there is heavy smoke damage around the windows and top. There is a picket fence lining the yard, along a sidewalk and other damaged buildings are visible in the background (right). Handwritten text on the back is dated January 18, 1913 and signed by E. W. Grinnell.

[Battle of Ciudad Juárez, 1911 #1]
Postcard image of people examining an adobe building that was damaged by cannons and bullets during the Battle of Ciudad Juarez. The image was taken from one corner of the building and there are groups of people wearing formal clothing and hats standing along both visible sides, including several looking into the interior from atop rubble where the corner of the building is missing. Handwritten note on the back: "El Paso Texas Jan 18/1913 We saw this building. It is in Juarez, Mexico & was damaged during the war there last July 1912. The town was captured by the Mexican troops. It had been in the hands of the revolutionist for two years."

Postcard image of the front facade of the heavily-damaged post office in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Groups of unidentified people appear to be walking around and observing the damaged building. The women are wearing dresses and some are wearing large hats and one woman at the left side of the image is carrying a parasol; the men are wearing suits and dark-colored hats or sombreros. The back of the postcard reads: January 18-1913 El Paso is across the river Rio Grande River. Their river is about as big as the Chatham Thames [river]. El Paso, Texas Jan 18/1913. I have more of the ruins at Juarez, Mexico. Street cars run to Mexico. We went to the races [horses races] at Juarez yesterday and are going to a Mexican bull fight to-day. It is not safe to go to Juarez at night, a train was held up by the opposition miles from Juarez Thursday Jan 16th 1913. E.W. Grinnell.

Postcard of soldiers shooting cannons in a field, with the caption, "Bat. D. 119th F.A. in action. Camp MacArthur, Waco, Texas." A handwritten note on the back of the postcard is addressed to Mr. and Mrs. J. Claude Hill in Hartford, Michigan and says, "Dear Folks, Am getting along fine. Can limp around without my crutches. I am listed as a cannoneer and will be one of this bunch on the other side when I get well enough I expect! Will write you a letter soon. Loving son [?]."

Postcard from G. L. Schench to Mrs. L. H. Schench, discussing a six mile drive the sender took, and the natural beauty he or she saw. The front of the postcard features a photograph (colored in with ink) of Fern Bank waterfall in Boerne Texas. The waterfall is a small stream of water spilling over a rocky ledge covered in greenery. The water fall cascades down a short distance, and then over a rock and into a pool of water. There are more rocks and greenery on either side of the waterfall.

Postcard sent out by the Local Board of Grundy County in Iowa to notify Ejner L. Wind to appear for a physical examination. The front of the postcard gives information about the date of the examination, and also warns Ejner that failure to appear may result in a loss of rights or immediately induct him to imprisonment or military service. On the back of the postcard, there is postage information.

He mentioned that their Cherry harvest has started and that they'll ship his package as soon as possible. He also mentions that they'd be happy to fill his order for July Nectarines, but they wouldn't be ready before July 25th. And he mentions that the cherries will reach him promptly and in good condition.

Postcard with a photograph of "Engine Co. 32 Wagon" in St. Louis, Missouri. Eagan writes in his note on the back that "the driver made a special run" for him as he took the picture. The wagon is running down a street in the city with two firemen hanging off of the back end and two others sitting in the driver's seat. Eagan also asks Pendexter if he knows Chief van Toor in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Postcard from W. B. Johnston to George Pendexter discussing the flood of 1908 and the possibility of another flood in the spring. The photograph on the reverse side shows the Battle Creek Fire Department during the flood of 1908; most of the firemen are holding long oars as they sit on the back of a wagon. The wagon itself is being pulled by two horses and has the title "Fire Department" written on the side; the water level rises around a half a foot on the wheels.

Postcard from B. H. Wilson to George Pendexter regarding more cards he has to send once he prints them; Wilson notes that the truck in the photo is a "ladder truck in the Decoration Day Parade, 1908." The truck is loaded with ladders and has at least four firemen on it, one is seated at the rear, one is standing on the side, and two are seated in the driver's seat while holdings the reins to the horses. The truck also has two small American flags planted on either side of it.
