Grass, Legume and Forb Cultivation

Shapley, Work Unit Conservationist [WUC], Tahlequah, Cherokee County Soil Conservation District [SCD], inspecting native Bluestem grass for a possible seed harvest. This field yielded approximately 200 pounds dry seed per acre for 55 acres. 2 tons of agricultural limestone [= calcium carbonate] and 160 pounds of 0-20-0 fertilizer per acre were applied in 1951. The hay was cut this year in early June, mostly as cheat grass. OK-166-5.
